This is the true story of a boy whose early life was dense with episodes, discoveries, adventure and misadventures at times dramatic and tender, hilarious and scary. During the last tumultuous years of fascism and the war tragedy, the child Ninni goes through a slow, bitter journey of maturation among different groups of families for both environment and prerogatives. He meets his parents and siblings only seven years after growing up away from them and is forced to clash with harsh and unpredictable realities. With great effort and intimate emotional suffering, Ninni adapts to his new situation. Little Ninni grows and matures despite the traumatizing experiences the war forces upon him at the end of which great joy for the end of the conflict takes over allowing for a complete rebirth after the dark night. These early years, though, will inevitably mark his infancy and character throughout the rest of his life.
